Russian naval and military forces stage drills in the Black Sea and on the Crimean peninsula, in a show of force on the peninsula which was annexed by Russia last year. Diane Hodges reports.
Rockets launch from a Russian ship off the coast of Crimea, as Russian naval and armed forces stage joint military operations on sea and land. Military vessels at sea hit targets on land, as drones controlled operations from the air. It was the latest show of force from Moscow after its annexation of the peninsula last year. Crimea had been part of Ukraine since 1954, but after last year's revolution, Russia took over the area..a controversial move overseen President Vladimir Putin. The change is disputed by Ukraine and not recognized by most countries. The latest military exercises provide a vivid demonstration that Russia can, and will, protect its new territory, despite the protests.
