Hyundai is recalling about 305,000 Sonata cars in United States for brake pedal issues. Jeanne Yurman reports.
Hyundai is recalling nearly 305,000 cars. It is replacing the brake pedal stopper pad in some Sonata models which may keep the brake lights on even when the driver isn't stopping. The defect increases the chances of a crash, according to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. NHTSA says the defective brake pedal stopper can also affect the transmission which may possibly be shifted out of park without the brake on, and the system which lets the brakes override the gas pedal may not work. The recall covers 2011 and 2012 Sonatas. Hyundai says no injuries had been reported so far due to the issue. It expects the recall to start in January.
