The Brit actor attended the LA premiere of the film with his wife Hannah Bagshawe. He plays the lead in the true story of Einar Wegener who transitioned to become a woman, Lili, in the 1930s with the help of his wife, the artist Gerda Wegener. The Academy Award-winning actor went through his own transition during the movie. (SOUNDBITE) Actor, Eddie Redmayne, saying (English): "I couldn't believe how ignorant I was before. I guess I changed in the notion of my outlook on gender but also I got to meet some extraordinary people and the weird and wonderful thing about my job is if you're preparing to play someone you get to meet people and they expose themselves and their stories to you and they become very close and I've made some great friends" Redmayne will next be seen in the new Harry Potter spin-off 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' as Newt Scaramander. (SOUNDBITE) Actor, Eddie Redmayne, saying (English): "I feel so lucky to be a part of it. J.K. Rowling has written and created such extraordinary characters and I love the world she creates, I love her imagination and to get to be a part of it is kind of wonderful but it's interesting because whenever you make a film you do it in a kind of vacuum and you don't really think about judgement - and we're making the film at the moment - but the first images came out and only then did I feel the weight of the fan base and the scrutiny but I love the character of Newt so I'm enjoying playing him." 'The Danish Girl' is released on Thursday November 27th.
