Time Magazine has named German Chancellor Angela Merkel ''Person of the Year'' for her leadership during the European refugee crisis and E.U. currency turmoil. Nathan Frandino reports.
Time Magazine says it was German Chancellor Angela Merkel's resilience and leadership that earned her its "Person of the Year" title. Merkel faced two major challenges this year: the Syrian refugee crisis and the turmoil in the European Union over its currency... both of which Time says she emerged from as an "indispensable player." Merkel has been called the most powerful politician in the world. She is the first woman to lead Germany and the first individual woman to hold the Time title in 29 years, beating Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
