Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is threatening to launch an independent White House bid, accusing party leaders of trying to manipulate who wins the 2016 nomination. Linda So reports.
First it was Donald Trump, now Ben Carson. The retired neurosurgeon is threatening to leave the Republican party and launch an independent run. Carson's threat comes a day after party leaders hinted at a contested convention in July when delegates meet to pick their nominee. Carson is accusing the GOP of trying to manipulate who wins the 2016 nomination. Speaking to reporters at a campaign event in Iowa, Carson said, "The party should not be doing anything that is deceptive and under the covers." The latest polls show support for Carson has dipped in recent weeks as he struggles to offer details of his foreign policy vision. Republican front-runner Donald Trump has also threatened to launch an independent run for the White House if the party does not treat him fairly.
