Authorities are working to piece together the motives of a gunman who killed three people and wounded 14 others during a shooting rampage in Kansas. Jillian Kitchener reports.
Police are still trying to establish what triggered yesterday's deadly shooting spree in Harvey County, Kansas. They say the attacker fired from his vehicle as he drove through two cities... ending up at Excel Industries in Hesston where he worked...and where he opened fire again. (SOUNDBITE) (English) HARVEY COUNTY SHERIFF T. WALTON, SAYING: "Four are deceased including the shooter. So we have a total of 18 victims involved." Jesus Fierros is one of the victims, who was working inside the plant: (SOUNDBITE) (English) JESUS FIERROS, SAYING: "I just knew I had to get out of there, like, we were there and we heard gunshots and people were just running saying that somebody was shooting and saying that I felt I got hit in the leg. That's when I turned and started running." Excel Industries CEO Paul Mullet says he is deeply saddened by the tragedy: (SOUNDBITE) (English) PRESIDENT AND CEO OF EXCEL INDUSTRIES, PAUL MULLET SAYING: "And our heart goes out to all of our employees, all of the families who's loved ones got injured or killed. We're going to do what we can to take care of them and bring them through this tragedy." The gunman died in a shootout with a police officer near the building's paint room. Investigators are now trying to establish his motives.
