At least 12 people including four Europeans are said to be dead after gunmen open fire on beachgoers in the Ivory Coast at the resort town of Grand-Bassam. Mana Rabiee reports.
Ivorian police and one witness say at least 12 people were killed after gunmen opened fire on beachgoers at the resort town of Grand-Bassam. Among the dead were four Europeans. The country's Interior Minister said security forces had "neutralized" what he said were six "terrorists" and police said they were doing clean-up operations in the aftermath of the attack. Their was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. High-end hotels and resorts in West African nations like Ivory Coast increased security in January after high-profile attacks by Islamists in Mali and Burkina Faso targeting venues frequented by Westerners and other expats.
