Gunmen attacked a hotel in the West African nation of Mali occupied by a European Union military mission. Julie Noce reports.
Gunmen stormed a hotel in Mali Monday evening where a European Union military training center had been set-up. Video broadcast on a local television station showed police and soldiers securing the area. Officials say at least one of the attackers was killed, at least one other was arrested. There were no casualties among the mission's personnel. Mali and neighbouring West African countries have been increasingly targeted by Islamist militants, some of them affiliated with al Qaeda. There's been no claim of responsibility for the attack.
