Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz says the GOP is realizing that he would be the candidate most likely to defeat Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said on Thursday (April 14) that members of the GOP are rallying behind him because they believe the Texas senator is the best candidate to defeat Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in the general election. "Nationwide, about 70 percent of Republicans recognize that if Donald Trump is the nominee, Hillary Clinton wins. Hillary beats Donald Trump by double digits. If I'm the nominee, we beat Hillary," Cruz told reporters during a campaign stop in New York. Cruz said his endorsements by five former candidates were proof that there was growing unity in the party behind his campaign.
