Dior takes over Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire for Cruise Show Collection 2017, featuring model and new Dior makeup ambassador Bella Hadid. Rough Cut - no reporter narration
NATURAL ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Luxury French fashion brand Dior pulled out all the stops on Tuesday (May 31) staging a fashion show at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire - hours after launching a new store in London. Models, such as new Dior makeup ambassador Bella Hadid, strutted down the catwalk for the Dior Cruise 2017 show in tops, dresses and skirts adorned in floral as well as Asian and African prints and embroideries. Lucie Meier and Serge Ruffieux, who are leading Dior's creative team, took inspiration from "not only the post-war high society's wardrobes but also the restlessness and wanderlust (that) characterized the period", according to show notes. Celebrities and fashion industry guests were transported in customized Dior trains from London to Blenheim Palace - the birthplace of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill - for the show. It marks the third time Dior have hosted a catwalk show at the venue, having previously staged events in 1954 and 1958. Dior's signature Bar jacket, usually cinched at the waist, was slightly longer and covering hips while its well-known bows were loosened to resemble scarves. Several outfits were layered, such as skirts over trousers - while sleeves were voluminous and up to the elbow, worn with trousers flared and cut above the ankle or pencil skirts. Earlier in the day Dior launched a new boutique on New Bond Street in London that will house ready to wear clothing, handbags, shoes, baby Dior and home ware. The new store will be one of their largest in Europe. Dior are still to name a new head designer some six months after Raf Simons left to set up his own brand.
