Ukrainian security services release video from late May showing the arrest of a terror suspect who was allegedly preparing a string of attacks in France. Mana Rabiee reports.
Dramatic undercover video showing the arrest of a terror suspect near the Polish border. Ukraine's state security service says the French citizen was planning a string of attacks in France to coincide with the Euro 2016 soccer championship which opens there on Friday. Officials say the unnamed 25-year-old was arrested with an arsenal of weapons and explosives in his car -- including rocket launchers and Kalashnikov assault rifles. Security chief Vasily Gritsak says the man spoke negatively about the French government, about mass immigration, the spread of Islam and globalization. His targets, he says, were many: (SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) HEAD OF UKRAINE'S STATE SECURITY SERVICE, VASILY GRITSAK, SAYING: "A Muslim mosque, a Jewish synagogue, a French tax office, highway patrol points and many other places. As I said, 15 terrorist attacks were planned." Gritsak says his security services uncovered the man's plot and were able to sell him DEACTIVATED weapons. While the investigation continues, security officials remain on high alert, with thousands expected to attend the soccer championships and the deadly attacks in Paris last year and Brussels in March still fresh in the minds of all Europeans.
