House Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says if you have been on a 'no fly list' and try to buy a gun, the FBI should be informed. Pelosi called Sunday's shooting in Orlando, ''a hate crime.'' Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) House Democratic leader, Nancy Pelosi on Thursday told reporters that among gun law issues lawmakers are talking about is the gun purchase, and reporting process to the FBI. In the wake of the shooting rampage at a gay Orlando nightclub, Pelosi said people who had been on a 'no fly list' should be reported to the FBI if they try to purchase a gun. Omar Mateen carried out the slaughter that killed 49 people with a legally purchased assault weapon and handgun despite twice being investigated by the FBI for alleged connections with terrorist groups. The mass shooting renewed debate in Washington about gun control. Some lawmakers have suggested that people on federal watch lists who are banned from flying on commercial jets should not be allowed to purchase firearms.
