Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump introduces Indiana Governor Mike Pence as ''a man of honor, character and honesty'' who will help unify the party as his vice presidential running mate. Jillian Kitchener reports.
"The next Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence." It's official, Republican Donald Trump has made Indiana Governor Mike Pence his vice presidential running mate. "I accept your invitation to run..." Having announced his decision on Twitter Friday, Trump waited until Saturday for the official announcement - calling Pence a "solid, solid person" and a budget balancer. But Trump says there are many other reasons he chose Pence. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DONALD TRUMP, PRESUMPTIVE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, SAYING: "Mike Pence is a man of honor, character and honesty... Will be able to speak the name of our enemy - Radical Islam." "And one of the reasons is party unity, I have to be honest." Some conservatives who had fought against Trump's rise welcomed his pick... with Pence a well-known evangelical and a social conservative. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MIKE PENCE, DONALD TRUMP'S RUNNING MATE, SAYING: "I'm a Christian, a Conservative and a Republican, in that order." Speaker of the House Paul Ryan -- a one time Vice Presidential candidate himself -- said he could think of no better choice for the VP candidate. The introduction comes just two days ahead of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, where delegates from around the country will convene to officially nominate Trump and Pence as their party's ticket for the Nov. 8 election.
