U.S. political satire tv programme ''The Daily Show'' goes to the Republican convention in Ohio in search of comedic fodder. Yiming Woo reports.
'The Daily Show' has arrived in Cleveland, Ohio for the Republican National Convention, where Donald Trump will be formally nominated. It's South African host Trevor Noah's first time at a U.S. political convention, after he replaced Jon Stewart last year. Noah has often poked fun at Trump, and says he's sure the four-day event will be interesting. (SOUNDBITE) (English) HOST OF "THE DAILY SHOW", TREVOR NOAH, SAYING: "It is quite a thing to see a party and a group of people succumb to the will of -- I don't even want to call him a madman -- really, just like a really dangerous buffoon who has hijacked their party." The show has often satirized Trump's anti-immigration stance and his promise to build a wall along its border with Mexico. The Republican National Convention was off to a dramatic start on Monday. It briefly erupted in chaos when Trump's opponents stormed out after failing to force a vote against his candidacy. But, their rebellion was soon quashed. Republicans resumed the rally to support Trump, who faces Democrat Hillary Clinton in the November 8th election.
