A staff writer for the Trump Organization claims responsibility for Melania's speech controversy. Linda So reports.
NATS: MELANIA'S SPEECH Was it plagiarism...or just a mistake? Either way..the blame goes to a woman by the name of Meredith McIver. The staff writer for the Trump Organization released this statement. She says she was the one who inserted passages in Melania Trump's speech that resembled parts of a 2008 speech given by first lady Michelle Obama. McIver apologized for using the language. She said Melania had recited some passages to her in a phone call and it was her fault for not checking to see how closely it matched Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention eight years ago. McIver says she offered her resignation, but Trump rejected it, saying quote "people make innocent mistakes."
