PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel tells the Republican National Convention that as a child the ''great debate'' was about how to defeat the Soviet Union, and now it's about ''who gets to use which bathroom,'' adding “who cares?” Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel took to the Republican National Convention stage in Cleveland on Thursday night with a message not often heard at Republican gatherings. "I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican, but most of all, I am proud to be an American," he said. He also told the audience that Americans have strayed from the issues that matter. "When I was a kid, the great debate was about how to defeat the Soviet Union," Thiel said. "Now we are told that the great debate is about who gets to use which bathroom.... who cares?" he added. CNN reported that Thiel is the first in history to tell the RNC that he's gay.
