Delta Airlines says flights scheduled for departure have been delayed or canceled after a ''major system-wide network outage'' which has impacted company operations worldwide. Jillian Kitchener reports.
Hundreds of Delta Air Lines flights have been delayed or canceled worldwide, after a power outage in Atlanta triggered a widespread computer problem. For Delta travelers, it's been a long, frustrating wait. (SOUNDBITE) SCOTT BEARSE, SAYING: "Got to the gate and the agent said, our systems down, no Delta flights are flying and there's no news. We're just all sitting here and you can see what's happening in the airport." Not only has the computer glitch caused delays, but it's also scrambled airport screens and Delta's website, so no updated flight status information can be found. (SOUNDBITE) SCOTT BEARSE, SAYING: "It does make you think about alternatives to getting on an airplane.. it's very very exhausting." As airport lines grow, Delta says its information technology team is working to solve the problem.
