The U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Swimming has suspended gold medal swimmer Ryan Lochte over a scandal at the Olympics in Rio. Diane Hodges reports.
Gold medal swimmer Ryan Lochte may be taking a break from competition. U.S. media are reporting that the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Swimming have suspended him for ten months, following his behavior at the Rio Olympics. The reports say that three other U.S. swimmers who were with Lochte have also been suspended for shorter periods of time. Brazilian police have accused Lochte and three of his teammates of damaging a restroom at a gas station. Lochte originally said the group were robbed at gunpoint, but later apologized and said he had, in his words, "overexaggerated". Since then, the 32-year-old swimmer has been dropped by four of his major sponsors. Lochte has said he believes the reaction to the incident has been blown out of proportion.
