French actress Juliette Binoche calls for more compassion towards migrants entering Europe. Bob Mezan reports.
Juliette Binoche was honored with the 'Ambassador of European Cinema' award at the Jameson CineFest film festival in Hungary. The French actress took the opportunity to encourage Europeans to let go of their fears of immigrants. SOUNDIBTE: Juliette Binoche saying (English): "I think we have to stop fearing these things, but welcoming people who are in big trouble, they have nothing left because their country, or their villages are totally destroyed. So it is for us, it's our obligation to show compassion, to show we're here to help and stop the divorce between the South and the North." Binoche, who reached global stardom in films like 'Chocolat' and 'The English Patient," has often been an outspoken supporter of personal freedoms, women's rights, and religious tolerance.
