The maker of Skittles candies offers a blunt response to a social media post by Donald Trump Jr. in which he compares Syrian refugees to poisoned Skittles. Linda So reports.
A bowl full of Skittles... sparking the latest political outrage... all pointing back to this Tweet... by Donald Trump, Jr.. The son of the U.S. Republican presidential nominee posted a message likening Syrian refugees to a bowl of poisoned Skittles. The message reading quote "If I had a bowl of skittles and I told you just three would kill you, would you take a handful? That's out Syrian refugee problem." The tweet prompting a swift and strong response from Wrigleys, the maker of Skittles. A spokesman saying quote, "Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We will respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing." The acceptance of refugees into the U.S. has been a divisive issue on the campaign trail with Trump sharply opposed saying it could allow violent militants to slip into the country. ...It's an issue Trump says, you cannot sugar-coat.
