U.S. President Barack Obama advises world leaders at the APEC summit to take a ''wait and see'' approach to President-elect Donald Trump, and advises Democrats to fight for their beliefs.
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. President Barack Obama on Sunday said that people should take a "wait-and-see" approach on President-elect Donald Trump as the real estate mogul works to assemble his choices for senior administration posts. Obama said the realities of the White House may force Trump to adjust how he approaches many issues. However, Obama urged his fellow Democrats to fight for their beliefs, but be willing to work with his Republican successor whenever possible. Obama made the remarks at the close of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, his last as the U.S. head of state. His comments came as Trump was closeted at a golf club in New Jersey, meeting with prospective candidates for his new administration.
