It's been a 7 year wait, but fans of The Veronicas can rejoice, as they are back with their third studio album. Holly Rubenstein reports.
Australian pop duo, The Veronicas, have smashed back onto the music scene, after an unprecendented 7 year hiatus. The identical twins from Brisbane were left in legal limbo when their former label left them unable to release music. However, their comeback couldn't have gone better. Their first single, 'You Ruin Me', was a chart topper and a testament to some dedicated fans. SOUNDBITE Pop duo, The Veronicas, saying (English): Lisa Origliasso (right): "Blew us away completely". Jessica Origliasso (left): "It was our first debut at number one as well." Lisa: "I mean we couldn't have obviously hoped or wished for a better outcome... you know we're very in touch with our fans through social media and things like that so we were getting so much love from them every single day, so they really did, they kept our spirits up." Alongside their music, the 29-year-olds are famously dedicated to social causes and their latest single, 'If You Love Someone' has a music video with a message of activism. SOUNDBITE Pop duo, The Veronicas, saying (English): Jessica Origliasso (left): "We touched on a personal issue that is close to us. My best friends are in a relationship and you know it's still not legal to get married in Australia if you're in a same sex couple. I mean are we living in the 21st century? What is going on? How is that not a legal thing yet? It's love is love. It's quite outrageous to us that that's even a conversation that needs to be happening at this point." The Veronicas self-titled album is out on March 16th.
