A Texas man trapped inside a bank's ATM room is rescued after sliding 'please help' notes through the receipt slot. Linda So reports.
People driving up to this ATM in Corpus Christi Wednesday afternoon, got a lot more than they were asking for. A contractor got trapped inside the ATM room at the Bank of America branch while changing out a lock. SOUNDBITE: RICHARD OLDEN, CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE DEPARTMENT, SAYING: "He can't get out. He can't call anybody 'cause his phone is in his truck." That's when he started getting creative. The man wrote 'please help' notes and slid them through the ATM's receipt slot. Some customers thought it was a joke, but fortunately, one called police. SOUNDBITE: RICHARD OLDEN, CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE DEPARTMENT, SAYING: "Sure enough, we can hear a little voice coming from the machine." Officers kicked down the door to free the man. He'd been trapped for about 2 hours. SOUNDBITE: RICHARD OLDEN, CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE DEPARTMENT, SAYING: "You'll never see this again in your life. That somebody's stuck in the atm machine. It was just crazy."
