ROUGH CUT - NATURAL (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Parts of Europe's most famous beach were closed on Tuesday (July 18) after a luxury yacht caught fire a day earlier in the Gulf of St Tropez. Local daily newspaper Var Matin reported that sections of the French beach were closed following diesel spillage from the boat, which sank less than three hours after the blaze took hold at around 1630gmt on Monday (July 17). Amateur video footage showed the black 20-metre vessel engulfed by flames with black smoke belching from its deck, just metres away from Pampelonne beach, one of the favourite summer spots of the international jet-set. Var-Martin told Reuters the yacht caught fire when the engine was started. No one was injured in the blaze.
