Nine-year-old Dylan Harbin of Stockton, California, is behind the letter that was read by White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders on Wednesday. In the letter, Harbin asks if the president will be his friend and Sanders replies, 'He would be more than happy to'. Colette Luke has more.
(SOUNDBITE) DYLAN HARBIN, WRITER OF TRUMP LETTER, SAYING: "My name is Dylan Harbin, but everyone calls me pickle.. Make America Great Again" Nine-year-old Dylan Harbin of Stockton California wrote a letter to President Trump… "You are my favorite president" And his letter was read and his questions answered by White House Spokesman Sarah Sanders on Wednesday… (SOUNDBITE) WHITE HOUSE SPOKESMAN SARAH SANDERS SAYING: "I don't know why people don't like you? Me either, Dylan. You seem really nice, can we be friends? I'm happy to say that I directly spoke to the president, Dylan, and he would be more than happy to be your friend." Dylan's mom said he watched it online and couldn't believe it. (SOUNDBITE) SUE ANN HARBIN, DYLAN'S MOM SAYING: "He had tears running down his face, and I said 'why are you crying' and he was like 'I'm just so happy'" In his letter, Dylan told President Trump about his birthday party he had about the Commander in Chief… with of course a Make America Great Again cake… Dylan, who also goes by the name Pickle, which coincidentally is the name of Vice President Mike Pence's cat, had to have his letter inspected to make absolutely sure he was the sender… (SOUNDBITE) SUE ANN HARBIN, DYLAN'S MOM SAYING: "They actually had people go in and they had experts look at his letter to see if it was real or not." Dylan's mom says his Trump fascination came as a surprise: (SOUNDBITE) SUE ANN HARBIN, DYLAN'S MOM SAYING: "He came home and he says 'Mom, I'm voting for Trump'… He is the only one in the house that likes Trump.." Although his family might not share in his obsession, that doesn't bother Dylan, because now he has a new friend..
