ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. Spanish power couple Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem shared the red carpet in Venice for their new film "Loving Pablo". The movie follows the rise and fall of Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar (Bardem) and his love affair with famed journalist Virginia Vallejo (Cruz). The movie is based on Vallejo's novel "Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar" and told through the eyes of the Colombian journalist. Escobar was once Colombia's most-wanted fugitive and his Medellin Cartel shipped cocaine to the United States and Europe. He was shot dead by security forces in 1993. Joining Bardem and Cruz on the red carpet was the film's director Fernando Leon de Aranoa. "Loving Pablo" is screening out-of-competition at the 74th Venice Film Festival which runs through Saturday (September 9).
