U.S. Senator Rand Paul's injuries are a lot more severe than initially reported. The two-time Republican senator is reportedly suffering five broken ribs and lung contusions after being assaulted by a neighbor at his Kentucky home. It's unclear when he might be able to return to Washington. Paul's neighbor, Rene Boucher is accused of tackling the senator from behind as he was mowing his lawn in their gated community near Bowling Green. Boucher, a retired physician is charged with one count of fourth-degree assault causing minor injury. He was released on bond. Police say it's not clear what led to the incident or if it was politically motivated. A Facebook page for Boucher reportedly contained numerous postings critical of President Trump. Paul, an opthalmologist, unsuccessfully ran for the Republican presidential nomination during the 2016 campaign.
